Once the excitement of the opening weekend has passed, attention can turn to what to fill your days with while you're still in Alton!

On Monday 22nd June Chawton House is hosting 'A Day in the Life of Jane Austen'. There will be a lively teatime discussion about Sanditon, and The Maltings will be hosting an evening with Caroline Knight.

Fast forward to Tuesday and there's a fun Regency Dance Workshop, and a talk about 'Jane's favourite brother Henry' by the Right Reverend Christopher Herbert. The evening wraps up the day's entertainment with a Regency Quiz, and 'Painting Jane Austen'.

Midweek the pace is set by the local historian leading a walk around Regency Alton, taking a short break and then conducting a tour of St Lawrence Church and its links with the Austen family. Professor Mike Biddiss takes a closer look at 'Jane Austen's Heroines' in his talk about the seven heroines in the six major novels. Will you agree?

Thursday 25th June starts 'In Conversation with Jenny and Susie', using the letters Jane wrote to her sister. At lunchtime the organ recital is followed by an introduction to the Jane Austen collection held by Alton Library. In the afternoon the scheduled talk focuses on Jane's friendships with Anne Sharp and Ann Barrett. In the evening you can either attend the Country Ball Workshop, Austen Cocktail Tasting, or a talk over tea and cake about the Development of Transport in the Georgian Era. The choice is yours!
