Sickness & Health in Jane’s Life/Writings SOLD OUT
7:00pm – 8:30pm
Details
Professor Michael Biddiss will review some aspects of Austen’s life, letters, and novels that have particular bearing on issues of illness and wellbeing. Topics will include her views on ‘the medical tribe’, and her approach to sickness as being often a matter of ‘social performance’ as seen for example in her impish depictions of hypochondria and of spa-going in the Regency period.
