As part of the Jane Austen Birthday Ball Weekend festivities, Alton Library is delighted to welcome you to enjoy the delights of our Jane Austen special collection which includes material that covers both the life and works of the author as well as information linked to relevant places and organisations.
We are especially pleased that local historian Jane Hurst will be joining us for the day and bringing with her a unique collection of memorabilia covering many facets of Jane Austen.
The collection and memorabilia will be available to view on the first floor of the library from 10am-4pm. Tea and Coffee will be available.
For our younger Jane Austen enthusiasts, we have a drop in event in our children's library from 10am – 11.30am where you can dress your own cardboard dolls of both Regency ladies and gentlemen and in addition Napoleonic Uniform soldiers. This is aimed at 6–10-year-olds, but of course older enthusiasts are most welcome!
We look forward to welcoming you to the library on Saturday 18 January.
