Details
A talk by Sue and Martyn Dell exploring how an author who died in relative obscurity in 1817 is now known, and loved, throughout the world. When did she become so famous, and why? It will also look at events commemorating the 200th anniversary of her death in 2017 mainly from the perspective of Jane Austen's House Museum, Chawton in which she lived for the last eight years of her life.
Martyn and Sue are both closely involved at Jane Austen's House Museum - Sue as Collections Volunteer, Martyn as Trustee and Steward.
The talk will be preceded by teas at the Allen Gallery from 5.30pm, with the option to sit in the garden if the weather permits.
